Recently lot many people started coming to my clinic complaining fatigue, weakness, mood swings, not able to sleep properly, forgetfulness, getting tired after doing little or no work. They were having very low immunity and they easily and frequently catch cold. The digestive system also in a mess. Acidity and gas being very common. This was prevalent in kids as well as adult population.
It got me worried when 7/10 people started coming with similar symptoms.
We started the treatment but it kept me haunting as why the numbers are rising at such an alarming rate? We started thorough investigation. Blood samples were collected for thorough analysis. In most of the cases it was found that their Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels were very low. The cholesterol levels (LDL) and triglycerides also elevated. In some cases the thyroid levels also disturbed. the Hemoglobin and iron deficiency also prevailed.
They were advised Vitamin D and B12 treatment and to take adequate amount of dietary sources of Vitamin D and B12. They were also advised to take sunlight.
While some of the patients who followed the advice and started taking sunlight, there all the parameters started showing normal. The cholesterol levels came down. Immunity improved a lot. But the patients who just took Vitamin D tablets and didn't take sunlight, there cholesterol levels were still in the higher ranges.
One more angle i want to add here, Now a days we have started consuming fortified meals. The food companies have started adding Vitamin A,B,D,E.. to our food. One proper study is required to assess its effect on the body. When we are deficient in some vitamins, its a good thing to get it through the supplements. But if we are getting it in enough quantity from the external sources itself, is our body going to loose its production capacity??? And if its not being produced naturally, what will happen to the raw materials?
What does it means?
It means that the sunlight uses the body cholesterol to convert it to Vitamin D and when it is used by our body the cholesterol level comes down. But when we are taking Vitamin D from external sources, the cholesterol is not being used and it start showing higher levels in blood tests.
The higher levels of cholesterol for prolonged periods may lead to improper blood flow and disrupt the transportation of nutrients in the body. It may also hamper the flow of oxygenated blood which may result in improper nourishment of our body and our body will become weak day by day.
A good research is needed on this topic by some independent body ( sponsored by the government and not by some pharma company ), but for now, my dear friends, my sincere advice is to rely on the natural source of Vitamin D and live a healthy life. And one more thing, You have to expose your skin directly to the sun. You can't take bath wearing a raincoat.
