A 70 years old patient from Varanasi, who was undergoing treatment for acute pancreatitis and was in the ICU of a renowned private hospital. The doctor was highly qualified and very famous. And i have high regards for that doctor.
While in the ICU, the patient was recovering, but the infection was not going away, and the bacteria was getting resistant.
Suddenly one morning, the doctor called the patient's family member and told them that the patient is showing signs of ARDS and this is life threatening. And the patient survival chance is very low. He asked the family members to consult some pulmonologist ( doctor of the respiratory system). They consulted some local pulmonologist and he said that its difficult to treat and asked them to be ready for the worst.
You must be knowing that ARDS is life threatning with high mortality rate and it doesn't give time to the doctor or patient to think. In many cases mortality rate is more than 80% depending on the age and the patients condition.
At this point of time, one of the family members consulted me over the phone, and told me the patients condition and the doctors report and the treatment he was undergoing. Initially i was hesitant to take that case, but latter, i agreed and I assured them all the help i can do.
My goal was clear. Give medicine to the patient to control infection. regulate the blood flow, Strengthen the lungs, and increase the oxygen in the body. And last but not the least.. the medicines must act swiftly. There was no time for a second chance.
I prepared a medicine consisting of Arnica montana, Allium cepa, Phellandrium AquanticumDrosera Rotundifolia.
I also prepared one medicine of avena sativa and arnica montana to control his blood flow.
Populus Alba mixed with tremuloids, steffensia elongata and ruta was also given to control the infection.
The ICU doctor was kind enough to allow the herbal medicines to be administered to the patient inside his ICU which is a rare sight.
The medicines did a wonderful job. In 6 to 8 hours time, The patient recovered. The Infection subsidized significantly and the ARDS symptoms were gone.
Why this case is significant?
Because, here the doctors from different systems of medicine worked with a simple goal.... to save the patient. There was no fight to prove the superiority or inferiority of a particular system of medicine. What is best for the patient, must be done. I am not claiming that it was 100 percent my work only. I can't undermine the treatment of the doctor who was there in the ICU. But all of us was very very happy at the result that we achieved, The life that was saved.
